El pasado 29 de febrero de 2008 se efectuó una reunión entre representantes del Ministerio de Educación Nacional del País Vasco, el Portal Colombia Aprende y la Subdirección de Poblaciones del Viceministerio de Educación Básica en la sede del convenio Andrés bello en Bogotá. - Learning styles (C1)
This lesson is based on an audio extract which can be found on the British Council LearnEnglish Professional website. It encourages students to reflect on their learning styles and gives them an opportunity to put into practice the learning strategies they hear being discussed on the audio. - Mobile phones (B1)
In this lesson plan the students will have plenty of opportunities to express themselves on the use of mobile phones in public and how they themselves use mobile phones. - Primary tips: At the beach (A2)
Once it starts to get warm you can easily start to talk about holidays and possible destinations. The beach is always a popular one and young children can generally, depending on where you are, relate to the excitement and freedom associated with playing on the beach. - Primary tips: Clothes (A2)
This lesson looks at ways to develop students 'clothes vocabulary' it could be spread over two lessons as the posters in Stage 5 could take quite a while a complete. - Primary tips: Drawing and colouring in the primary classroom (A1)
Art is an important part of the young learners’ development at school and can also be part of their English learning. Colouring shouldn’t and needn’t however become simply a means to fill in time. Here we look at different ways to use colouring and drawing and to practise English at the same time. - Primary tips: Easter (A2)
Children love learning about festivals and the way other people celebrate them. It’s also fascinating for them to compare how they celebrate the same festival in their own country. Easter is widely celebrated by children across the world and it is interesting from a cross-cultural point of view to develop at least a few activities related to eggs, bunnies and hot cross buns! - Primary tips: Fairy tales (A2)
Fairy Tales provide a wealth of possibilities for teaching English topics. Each fairy tale has its own magical setting and is split into several scenes. Within each scene there are sets of vocabulary that you can exploit. - Primary tips: Farm animals (A2)
Children love units connected with animals and farm animals can provide lots of fun opportunities to practise sounds and phonics. - Primary tips: Halloween (A1)
This lesson has some fun activities and language learning tasks based around the theme of Halloween. The activities include singing songs and making Halloween decorations. - Primary tips: In the Town (B1)
This is a popular topic with young learners as it is easy for them to relate to the situations and it provides many opportunities to practise using the language in a communicative and real context. - Primary tips: Machines (B1)
Children are often fascinated by machines; the way they work, inventing their own. We are not going to go into the scientific intricacies of machines here but instead use the topic of machines to provide a wide range of sub-topics that will enable the children to experiment with their imaginations. - Primary tips: My school (A2)
This area of the site is designed to help support language assistants who are working with primary age students. - Primary tips: Parts of the body (A2)
A Vocabulary lesson with Speaking and Listening for Very Young learners - Primary tips: The alphabet (A1)
The alphabet can be an easy way of collating new vocabulary and lends itself well to fun activities that will help your learners remember what you introduce into the lesson. - Primary tips: The senses (A2)
Every child is unique and approaches learning differently. You should always vary your teaching techniques to avoid alienating the students who learn differently to the way you teach. Young learners tend to respond well to actually doing rather than just hearing your voice. Some need to touch in order to reinforce the language. Try a selection of activities and see how well your students respond. - Primary Tips: Toys (A2)
The following ideas are ideal for a post-Christmas show and tell style sessions but can be equally adapted throughout the year. - Primary tips: Transport (A2)
This tip is a selection of vocabulary building activities based on the subject of transport. I have included several common types of transport as well as touching on some less common ones that might interest your learners such as hovercrafts and horses. - Primary tips: Using songs (A1)
Children all over the world love listening to songs and most of them love singing too! Using songs to introduce language and revise vocabulary is a great way to help children remember. Having a rhyme, music and actions helps to quickly pick up the vocabulary and retain it. - Primary tips: Where are you?: prepositions of place (A2)
Although this is a grammar point and you’d be advised to limit grammar input for primary learners, you can present the prepositions as units of vocabulary. Children respond better to chunks of vocabulary that they can immediately use as opposed to lengthy grammatical explanations.
