Bogota's public transport is operated with buses, busetas, colectivos, taxis and the latest addition: the Transmilenio. These vehicles, perhaps 15,000 of them altogether, have all kinds of shapes and sizes. Some are very old and some are very comfortable and modern. That is why there are different prices for each type.
In Bogota there are practically no bus stops, so you have to flag down a bus wherever you are and the bus or buseta will pick you up right there. But nowadays on some congested streets they are implementing bus stops, so the system is more efficient. The buses and busetas run throughout the length and the breadth of the city at a very scary speed, if traffic allows.

El transporte público en Bogotá es prestado por buses, busetas, colectivos, taxis y la última adición: Transmilenio. Estos vehículos, unos 15000 en total, tienen toda clase de formas y tamaños. Algunos son muy viejos y otros son muy cómodos y modernos. Es por ello que hay diferentes precios para cada tipo. En Bogotá prácticamente no hay paraderos, de manera que usted debe hacer la señal de parada donde quiera que esté y el bus o buseta lo recogerá en el sitio. Pero hoy en día en algunas calles congestionadas se están implementando paraderos de buses para que el sistema sea más eficiente. Los buses y busetas recorren todo lo ancho y largo de la ciudad a velocidades vertiginosas, si el tráfico lo permite.
